Obituaries
Richard
(Dick) Bourret, 72, died Dec. 23, 2010, in Catalina, AZ. He was
born, July 21, 1938, in Livingston, WI. Dick was baptized in 1977. Dick and his
wife, Linda, moved to Catalina from Woodstock, IL, in 2001.
Dick wore many hats: husband, father, son, brother, friend, and to the Grace of God Fellowship, as ar brother-in-Christ. Dick leaves behind many loved ones – his wife of 40 years, Linda; his son from a previous marriage, Troy and his two sons; his brothers, Ralph and Keith; his sisters Elaine McDermott, Kathy Bourret and Marion Barth. He was preceded in death by his parents, and Dick and Linda’s son, Michael.
Dick was a quiet man, a man of character, a man who went about his Christian life, not saying, “I’m a Christian.” He lived it, and it showed in everything he did. When he had something to say, it was worth the time to listen. It was not idle chatter. When someone was in need, he was right there to help them. Most of the time you wouldn’t even know about it, unless you were there helping with him. You would not have known that he spent ½ day a week at an assisted living center with a 92-year-old friend, Bea Zimmerman, until her death last spring. You would not know that when someone called, day or night, needing a lift, he would be on the road to help them. Dick did not talk about these opportunities to reach out and help others, he just did them. God saw all those efforts to assist others and appreciated Dick’s servant’s attitude, for that was a huge part of his true character.
A memorial service was held in Tucson, AZ, on Dec. 30, officiated by Pastor Ted Millhuff. Another memorial service was held on Jan. 8, in Illinois, where Dick and Linda’s families are still residing.
Marguerite Evans, 94, of Lorain, OH, died on Dec. 21, 2010. Mrs. Evans was baptized in 1966, and served as a deaconess. She was an active member of the Lorain, Ohio, congregation of GCI until her death. Her husband of 61 years, Robley Evans, had served as a local church elder.
Marguerite Ward Evans was born June 24, 1917, in Elyria, OH. She attended drama school in Cleveland, then eloped with Robley Evans on May 2, 1936. They lived in Lorain for 20 years, and after numerous moves around the country, again settled in the Lorain area. She was greatly loved and respected by members of the Lorain congregation, and will be missed very much.
Mrs. Evans is survived by two daughters, Betty Rayha of Parma, OH, and Brenda Davenport (husband John) of Fredricksburg, VA; grandson Daniel Rayha, granddaughters Becky Weidenbruch, Deborah McMullan, and Susan Cappy; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robley Evans; sister Charlotte; and son-in-law Dan Rayha.
