When Jesus went to visit Lazarus and it said Jesus wept and no doubt Jesus wept October 1st. My name is Tom Melear I am the Pastor of the church here locally in Las Vegas and I'm also a hospice Chaplain. We got notification from one of the trauma centers in town that they needed additional support and help. And I had the first rotation on Tuesday afternoon. As I arrived at the hospital, you just get the sense of grief of anxiety, people look lost. The stories of the people that I got involved with were so tragic so compelling. Where is God in all of this? God is in the midst of it. God's son suffered and we're called to suffer with him. When we see tragedy we pull back and I think that's really the time when the spirit is saying go toward that situation. God wanted me to be a better Pastor and he's allowed me to learn how to be a better Pastor through this hospice work and grief support. People are hurting. When someone dies it creates a tremendous wound in our soul and our psyche. I'm given the chance here the opportunity if I can to help other people. Well I look at Jesus' statements that he came to teach and to preach and to heal. I believe part of my job is the healing part. We are the body of Christ and when one part hurts, we all hurt. And when one part can help, then in reality all parts are helping.
