Myanmar Conference

Date:

April 27, 2018 (All day)

This update is from Rod Matthews, GCI Mission Developer for Southern Asia and the South Pacific.

The Holy Spirit made his presence felt powerfully in a conference of about 40 church elders and leaders (pictured below) held recently in Yangon, Myanmar. There was much excitement in that this was the first meeting between several of the participants, including those who had become part of our fellowship in 2016. Nine participants came from the Matupi area in the Chin Hills of Myanmar. They were joined by local GCI leaders and several pastors from other fellowships.

SEP India

This report is from Daniel Zachariah, GCI’s pastor in Hyderabad, India.

Jesus places a special value on children. His love for them was undeniable when he took them up in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them, saying, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

Who Ever Thought... A Ministry Partnership in Nepal

Deben SamMeet Deben Sam. Deben is a young man—quiet, resolute, and unobtrusive, but with a heart that agonises for those who are poor and suffering. He was born in the shadows of Mt. Everest among a people who are for the most part uneducated people living in harsh conditions. Many idealistically think of Nepal as the land of yaks and yetis and majestic mountains. It is spectacularly beautiful, but it is also grindingly poor.

Invisible Missionaries in China

An important part of preaching the gospel effectively is being sensitive to opportunities. An excellent example of this is the current global village economy, where rapidly growing economies import labor from other countries to fill their needs.

Every month, thousands of Filipinos leave the Manila airport on their way to be overseas guest workers. Christian leaders in the Philippines realize that these workers are being allowed into places where missionaries would not be permitted, and they provide mission training to as many overseas workers as possible.
