The Gospel According to Luke
Although the author does not name himself in this book, early church tradition is unanimous in saying that the third Gospel was written by Luke, a physician who sometimes travelled with Paul and wrote the book of Acts. Luke begins his book by noting that several people had already written books about Jesus, but that he did some careful research so that his readers could be assured that these things are true.
